Preliminary Task

For the pre-lim tasked i have been asked to create a short film with the basis of the film being about a meeting between two individuals.
For this task it is of the utmost importance that I try and show a variety of camera shots and angles, as well as making sure that I use good and appropriate editing techniques in order to show fluidity in my short film.
In addition, for this to all work it is important to create a good script, location and place the characters in the short film well so the meaning, story and overall message is made obvious and effective to anyone watching.

My idea for my film was to show a meeeting between a detective and a 'snitch', with the snitch giving the detective information about a notorious criminal. We took some inspiration from the BBC Drama, Luther. Me and my group chose to do this as we thought that we could use a variety of shots and editing techniques to show the compelling difference in status and power between the two individuals which we hoped would be conveyed accordingly in our short film.

Introduction

I'm an A2 student, who as of recently has just finished AS Media and I am now beginning the A2 part of the course. The A2 course consists of a marketing campaign, which is genre specific to Horror for the study. This blog will be used as a diary to document evidence, research and planning of specific tasks.

My blog will consist of up to date evaluations of the work I have done so far with the goal of showcasing my progress from now until the end of the course. It will also consist of different promotional advertisements of my film production which will include a poster and a film trailer. As well as demonstrating different ways of using media technologies of uploading and detailing information on my blog.

This as of now differs comparably from my AS coursework in the following ways:

  • Instead of working individually, all work will now be group based
  • I will now be using video based media and not only print based
  • The content of the brief is much wider than it was at AS
